ICYMI: Governor Walz says Minnesota can’t make up for potential Medicaid cuts

Governor Walz speaks to a resident at a nursing home during the roundtable

ICYMI: Gov. Tim Walz and Minnesota Rep. Kelly Morrison spoke out at a sixth state roundtable about looming cuts they believe would have “significant negative impacts” on Minnesotans.

Morrison: “The Republican proposal to gut Medicaid will not only be devastating to the 1.5 million Minnesotans who get their health care coverage through Medicaid, it will be devastating to all Minnesotans, and I think that’s really important to emphasize today. It will impact everyone regardless of whether you get your health care through Medicaid or not. It will be devastating for local hospitals, our health care system and our state budget.”

Walz: “If you think we’re in a crisis now, especially for senior living in rural Minnesota, cut Medicaid and find out what happens. There’s no way the state of Minnesota can come close to back filing what’s lost.”
