ICYMI: More than a dozen Republican state legislators warned U.S. Rep. Tom Emmer and other Minnesota party members in Congress against making deep Medicaid cuts, writing that “there is no practical way to accommodate some of the proposed massive reductions.”

Minnesota hospital leaders have been meeting with Minnesota’s congressional delegation, including a full briefing to congressional health policy staff, on the potential impacts to hospital patients and communities if the proposed Medicaid cuts are passed.

Even a small portion of the proposed reductions could have wide-ranging negative consequences for the health and well-being of both Medicaid enrollees and the broader health care system.

MHA urges policymakers to reject reductions to the Medicaid program that would not only strip access to health care from some of the most vulnerable populations but also destabilize hospitals and health systems, leading to a loss of services that would impact patients and communities across Minnesota.
